Guadalajara has hundreds of hotels to choose from, but only a few that are truly gay-friendly and in the center of town close to the best restaurants, sightseeing and gay nightlife. Here are our recommendations:
HOTEL DON QUIXOTE
A colonial-style property in the heart of downtown with cheap rooms and a tranquil atmosphere. All the rooms surround a gorgeous, traditional Old World courtyard with hanging plants, potted palms and a stone fountain. ( picture above ) Your best choice for budget accommodations.
HOTEL PLAZA
For more modern accommodations in the downtown area, the Hotel Plaza offers elegance and comfort with nice views of the city from its higher floors. All the rooms have mini-bars, air conditioning and cable TV. The hotel has a gym, a 5-star restaurant and meeting rooms.
NOTE: We used to offer the HOTEL SAN FRANCISCO in downtown Guadalajara, but we stopped booking them after we received client reports about room thefts and credit card fraud. The management response to the complaints was indifference, so we no longer recommend this establishment. If you choose to patronize this hotel, please beware.
